Winter sports and Birthday count down

Ahh the joys of winter sports!  The kids started almost 3 weeks ago this Tuesday will be the 3rd week.  I am amazed at how well they are doing.  They have never ice skated before and they are doing great!  I took Sara and went to watch on Tuesday (I about FROZE!! ) it was way to cold for this mom, but so much fun to watch, they even let little Miss Sara out on the ice. But I got no pictures of her.

Sara drove me nuts asking a thousand times a day how many more days until her birthday, and I thought it would be fun make a count down to her birthday. This is what I came up with, I just did from 10 days. I plan on making more pages so they have more days to count down, but the important thing was to get it done before her birthday so she could use it.

The only page I don't like is 3. I need to re-do this one, but for now its up and she loves it.  Everyday she is so excited to flip the page over to see how many more days until her birthday.  I think it was even better when Jonathan ask if I was making him a page too, which I was planning on and glad to say that each of the other kids are done.
The idea is to use a picture frame and rings so they can turn each page over to count down the days.  I am going to make a count down to Valentines day too.

Well its January, its been cold, snowy but nothing like the last few years.  Usually by this time we have had no school days due to extreme cold, and snowing and blowing conditions not this year.  Its been a low snow year so far which is good and bad.  Hope we get more snow sooner than later I have a hard time when we get a foot of snow in April.  The girls were outside Saturday playing around and made snow angels there was just enough of the powdered snow we got a couple of days ago for them to make some, the snow underneath is hard and frozen, not much fun.

Sara's bed done well it needs varnished, but otherwise done.  YEAH!  Dennie used logs with knots on them of her bed its really different but cool too.  My bed is next, the only problem is we keep finding beds online that we like and can't decide which one we want, Dennie pulled a lot of logs into the shop on Saturday so hopefully he can get going on it.  Oh can't wait.  Now to get quilts done for everyone that's the next BIG project that I am going to be working on.

Update

WOW!! Its January and I only posted once in December bummer.  It was a busy, busy  month with concerts, programs, and party's.  It was crazy, some weeks we had something going on every night, no different from anyone else. Sometimes it gets so busy that I forget to take pictures, or they don't turn out so that is why the lack of pictures of our Christmas.  Then on Christmas morning I took a total of 0 pictures, and only 3 on Christmas Eve and they all look the same except different kids making faces.
 Our greatest blessings
Christmas Eve.

Christmas was on Sunday, and Dennie had Monday off so we loaded up the kids and went sledding with some friends.  It was lots of fun the kids had so much fun.

Mr. Jared, flying down the mountain.

A few days before Christmas Little Miss Rachel lost her other front tooth,  she was NOT happy about it!  I told her she could ask for her two front teeth for Christmas and she didn't like that idea at all.

It was a good Christmas even with all the craziness and Dennie being on call and yes he got several calls on Saturday one at 530 in the morning.   So thankful for all our many many blessing we received this past year.  We have been truly blessed.  Looking forward to this year and all the fun we will have and the many blessing coming our way.

Its Winter

Its winter for sure up here.  Jared found an icicle that was hanging on the roof he was able to break it off without breaking it.  Holy cow its taller than Sara.

Jared and his icicle sword.
Its been cold up here for sure.   Glad its starting to warm up.  I was out and about today and I heard someone say " its so nice and warm out today"  it was 28 degrees, but compared to last week when it was
-15 to -20 degrees I guess 28 feels like a heatwave.

I have been busy coming up with different thinks to entertain the kids, you can only play so many video games and watch so much TV, and with the weather being so cold we had to do some in door activities.  The other day I was making hot glue snowflakes, wow lots of fun but lots of work too.  Jared had the idea to make hot glue snowmen so this it what we did we made hot snowman ornaments.  I think they turned out pretty cute.
Our little snowman family of ornaments

Then I got a wild hair and tried to do a paper cone wreath using paper I had on hand no place to buy scrapbook paper up here.  Its kind of cheesy but the girls liked it so I hung in up.  Not much else going on up here, just staying warm and enjoying the snow.
